JULY RAK WINNER, MSW & CARD UNIVERSE

Good ole "Random Generator" chose #22 today and that number belongs to SaScoma (Sessy). Congratulations, girl - send me your address when you get a chance!

A couple of other things: The ABC Summer Crop starts tomorrow at MSW and will last through the entire month of August. If you haven't signed up in this FAB forum yet, what are you waiting for???

Have you checked out the Card Universe yet? We're planning some exciting events there starting in August - the first "event" will actually take place on the first Thursday (Aug. 6th) - you won't want to miss the exciting things we have in store for you!

One of the features that I'll be personally adding will be a "Featured Artist". I'll be "blog-cruising" looking for projects that knock my socks off. The artists who knock my socks off will be invited to be Featured Artist at the Card Universe. I won't be limiting my choices to the CU (as I have been doing) - this search is going to go out into Blogland.

If you'd like to join the Card Universe, just go to the right column and click on the CU icon. That will take you right to the CU. I'm also hosting a new challenge every week in the "Holiday Challenge Group". Tomorrow is the day I'll post the next challenge.

BLOG RAK AND ABC CROP

Well, I've been neglecting my poor blog again. Between my new duties at SNR and all the happenings at the Card Universe, my blog has slipped a little. However, tomorrow is the last day of July and I'm going to be drawing for the July Followers RAK. So stay tuned to see who the winner is.

The ABC Summer Crop starts Saturday over at MSW - you must make some time to get over there. It will be a month long extravaganza of challenges, games and lots of fun. If you're having trouble with your MOJO lately, MSW is the perfect place for you!!

Friday Night Fun!







Well, the first ever 1 Hour Card Sketch Contest at MSW was a huge success!! We had one hour to make as many cards as we could from six sketches that were revealed at precisely 9 PM EST. I got three cards done and was very happy with that. Actually, I really like all four of them.

First Ever 1 Hour Card Sketch Contest at MSW

The 1 Hour Layout Sketch Challenges are always so much fun that we have tweeked it a bit and want to give our Card Lovers an equally Fun Time!

When: July 24th at 9pm EDT
Where: MSW Forum

Join us for a fun and face paced One Hour Card Challenge.

The 6 Sentiments will be listed the day before the Challenge in our Forum. This will give you a little time to think about what papers you would like to use and how you might want to do your sentiment.

At 9pm EST, The 6 Card Sketches will be revealed in our Forum. Let’s see how many you can get done in One Hour! For each card finished and uploaded into the gallery, you will receive 1 point. The more cards, the more points and the more chances to win our Door Prizes.

Cards must be completed by 10:00pm EST and you will have an extra 20 minutes to upload the cards into the Gallery.

Call Guidelines

Please submit your pages with the following guidelines:

•Pages only – unless specified, no mini albums, altered projects or home décor
•Can be of any size, i.e. 12"x12", 8"x8", 6"x6"
•Artwork can be traditional, hybrid or digital (please specify)
•Please send images as large as possible and we’ll scale to size
•You must name your image with the title of the layout or project.
•The call name must be specified in subject line of your e-mail
•There are no restrictions on whether your artwork has been posted to an online gallery, blog or other site but we respectfully request you take them down upon request for publication.

Important to Note: Please register on our site before sending in your submissions. This will ensure we’re able to properly contact you as well as authorize you to view the magazine should your artwork be accepted for publication. All submissions must include a SNR username.



Special Call for August/September Issue
By Style

In each issue of Scrapbook News and Review, we feature scrapbook pages by style and skill level. As a chance to see as many styles and genres as possible, for this call only, we do not restrict the amount of submissions per scrapbooker. In fact, we'd prefer to see at least three to five layouts per person in order to give us an idea of how well your defined style is. We're currently looking for pages of size or subject. It must be a clearly defined style, for example: clean and simple, modern and graphic, shabby chic, freestyle, eclectic, etc. Please include the style category you feel best describers your work.

Wonderful News!

I'm on the MSW Card Design Team for six more months!! I'n SO thrilled to have been asked to return as one of Lucy's designers!

The DT over there consists of some of the most talented women that I know! It has been such a pleasure working with all of them and I'm looking forward to the next six months! Lots of news!



Join us today at SNR, for lots of classes, inspiration, prizes and just plain fun. Here's the link with the entire schedule - I hope to *see* you there. Since I'm such a "newbie", I'm not doing any of the classes, but I will be hanging around in the Teresa Collins thread most of the day, so come on by!

Speaking of SNR, I am now the Card Team Assistant Coordinator and will be working directly with Anne House! I'm SO excited! I have pretty much "morphed" into being more of a card maker than a layout maker in the past few months, so I'm super thrilled that Anne asked me to work with her on the card section of SNR!!

I'll also be taking a very active role in the development of The Card Universe. We know there is so much potential there and now I will be putting quite a bit of effort in helping that grow. I know that some of you are already a member of the "CU". If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know. You can always leave me a message, or post right in the thread.

Finally, it took a few days, but we finally have all the winners of the July 4th Blog Hop! Each staff member gave away a 1 month subscription to SNR, and the lucky winner from my blog is Sonia Kertznus - congratulations, Sonia!!

4th of July Layout

I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th of July celebration. The SNR Blog Hop was a big success and I'll admit that I'm still tired from that. Getting 95 blogs ready to hop took a lot of time and apparently more energy than I realized. On top of that, the kiddoes have been here quite a bit. I think I'm starting to get caught up again, though.

Here is a layout that I created for a reveal at Scrap Whispers - which debuted on July 5th. Did you notice the first three pictures on the top right of my blog? They were taken five years ago at a parade and were the inspiration for my layout.

4th of July Blog Hop!!

I love using vintage images and have had this one for nearly a year - just waiting for the 4th of July! I used cardstock for the base and chose turquoise blue so that it would match my bling - LOL. I added some beige twill tape and adhered the bling squares to it. I also tucked a piece of red scrap paper, (which I distressed up a bit) behind the image, for an additional accent. Quick, easy and fun to make!!
